Real djembe solo playing is not about knowing more patterns, but about knowing how to connect them.
The DJEMBESOLO PATTERNS masterclass, included in the DJEMBESOLO MEMBERSHIP, contains a large amount of material and provides a complete vocabulary for real djembe solo playing. However, this volume can make it difficult to know where to start and how to move forward. To address this, I created a dedicated page for students: the DJEMBESOLO PATTERNS Roadmap, which provides a clear and structured plan to approach the material step by step.
Real Djembe Solo Playing in Action
But a plan is only the first step.
To take this further, I created a full course called SOLO EXAMPLES, included in the DJEMBESOLO MEMBERSHIP.

This course shows you the outcome of the Roadmap in real djembe solo playing.
It takes the same material and places it in the context of a solo, so you can see how patterns connect, transition, and support each other.
This is where the learning process becomes audible and concrete.
A Concrete Example
Look at the first example on the Djansa rhythm.
I use start signal #1, solo pattern #1, bridge #1, chauffé #1, conclusion signal #1, and stop signal #1.
In this short example, you have a clear illustration of how these patterns take their meaning within a solo.
The notation of this example is provided below with precise color-coded annotations, showing not only the music but also the types of patterns used.
The strategies used in the other solos across the other rhythms (Mendiani, Soko, Dunumba, Konkoba, Komodenu) are all different, which helps you develop flexibility.
How to Build Real Djembe Solo Playing
Each solo is a working framework.
Observe how patterns are connected.
Reproduce the structure.
Adapt it with different patterns of the same functions (solo patterns #1, #2, etc., same with bridges, warmings, and all signals).
The objective is to understand and develop real djembe solo playing from the material you already know.
From Repetition to Creation
At this stage, the course presents foundations with short examples across the most common rhythm families, free from any virtuosic complications, focused on clear and shareable djembe language.
Depending on feedback, a development section will extend this work with longer examples and a wider range of techniques and strategies.
SOLO EXAMPLES is part of the bonus courses and is only available inside the DJEMBESOLO MEMBERSHIP.
